Work and payment policy

Know the scope, payment schedule, and outside costs before work starts.

Every paid engagement begins with a written scope. Published packages show their included work; custom projects receive a proposal before additional charges are approved.

Standard project terms

50% reserves the work. The balance follows the written schedule.

For standard project work, 50% of the accepted project total is due upfront before scheduling or development begins. The remaining 50% is billed monthly or at agreed milestones during the work, exactly as stated in the accepted proposal. JamesNox does not create an automatic recurring charge unless you separately authorize one.

Rapid-development work with an accelerated timeline is paid in full upfront. A published pay-in-full discount applies only when it appears on the booking page or written proposal.

Discovery first

Use a paid consultation when the right solution is not clear yet.

A consultation is a separate, paid service used to understand goals, constraints, risks, integrations, and a sensible next step before a full project is priced. Buying a consultation does not require you to purchase a larger project. It is credited toward later work only when the written proposal explicitly says so.

Hourly pricing matrix

Typical hourly work ranges from $35 to $135.

Work typeTypical rateExamples
Routine site support$35–$55/hourContent entry, simple edits, basic site upkeep
Design and configuration$55–$85/hourPage layout, theme configuration, forms, analytics
Development and integrations$75–$110/hourCustom features, APIs, databases, payment integrations
Advanced or urgent work$110–$135/hourSecurity, complex AI integration, recovery, priority work

The exact rate is confirmed before billable work begins. A range is not permission to bill at its maximum.

Continued website support

Optional support plans generally cost $50–$200 per month.

The exact monthly fee depends on the site’s size, complexity, update frequency, security and maintenance needs, and the response level requested. The written support agreement identifies what is included before billing begins.

Continued support is not automatically added to a project and is not automatically renewed or charged without authorization. Hosting, domains, paid services, plugins, and AI or API usage remain separate unless the agreement expressly includes them.

Optional add-on packs

Setup charges and monthly costs are shown separately.

Upfront add-ons are paid with the project deposit. Monthly services are listed in the contract and invoiced separately; selecting an add-on does not create an automatic PayPal subscription.

AI and provider costs

Third-party subscriptions and usage are separate unless specifically included.

AI services can create ongoing costs that JamesNox does not control, including model or API usage, platform subscriptions, hosting, domains, email, paid plugins, data providers, storage, and other vendor fees. Your proposal will identify known required services, who pays each provider, and any included allowance.

  • Provider charges are not hidden inside a development rate unless the scope says they are included.
  • Variable AI usage may change with traffic, model choice, and provider pricing.
  • Customer-owned provider accounts are preferred where practical, so you retain billing visibility and control.
  • No optional subscription or material usage expense is purchased on your behalf without approval.
Changes and cancellation

New scope requires new approval.

Requests outside the accepted scope are estimated or billed at an agreed hourly rate before the additional work begins. Once authorized work starts, payments are non-refundable except where applicable law requires otherwise. Before work starts, any approved refund may be reduced by provider fees and authorized, non-recoverable third-party commitments. See the accepted contract and refund policy for the complete terms.

Local-business economy packages

Focused essentials, with a discount for full payment.

Economy packages keep the scope intentionally narrow for local businesses. The current price, capacity, included items, and full-payment discount are shown before PayPal opens.
